Come and meet us online at the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) 2020 Congress, organised by DGM on September 22-25, 2020. We will present “An ontology-enabled approach for modelling carbon black synthesis process”, summarising the results of our collaboration on Open Simulation Platforms (OSPs) as a part of the H2020 SimDOME project, at session “M05: Digital Materials, Ontology based Data Structures and Interoperability in Materials Processing”.

This work entails a consistent semantic representation of an acetylene fed industrial carbon black synthesis process including detailed chemistry and particles formation, using the chemical kinetics ontology (OntoKin) and the European Materials & Modelling Ontology (EMMO).

Via the OSP’s interoperability layer, the semantic CB material modelling use case is linked with a syntactic layer of CMCL’s kinetics software, and detailed particle size distribution and numer of primary particles are evaluated using the stochastic population balance solution method.

Join us at our presentation at the MSE2020 Congress to hear more about this research, and contact us to learn more about our digital engineering approach.
